Healing The Child Within



Part of us is a wounded child within that may feel neglected , ignored or simply not given enough attention as a child . We grow up as adults but there are times we feel something is  missing in our lives . We may be successful on the outside with all of our material possessions  and career advancement . But still we are looking for something ... that we can't seem to find.

Some of us even get obsessions on toys, houses, people .. we collect these things not knowing why but later realizing that it was a deprivation in the early part of our life that cause us these obsessions.
A popular TV host seems to have a passion for houses , now he is saying this was because when he was a child their family could not provide a decent home for him . When he went to work in the city , he just rents a small apartment. But now he has mansion like houses , not just one but a couple of houses in different provinces .

We are looking for something we can not define ...Some of us even get sick because we can't find the answers to our questions ...we wonder ..what it is ? Some even fall to addictions ...food, drugs, sex, other material possessions like gadgets ...but still no answers...

When we try to look back in our lives , through therapy or counseling , that's when we discovered that inner child ...still neglected , logical reasoning takes over intuition ( inner mind ) ...but that was along time ago. Yes, but the child within us still wants to be notice and given attention.... because we were not recognize or praise for a good deed. Most of the time we were criticize even ridicule whenever we commit mistakes.

Now that we are adults, the wounded child seem to be resurfacing , trying to get our attention by sometimes being sick ... because when we are sick we get everybody's attention . We become well when we already get  the attention that we crave for.

There is a psychotherapy on healing the child within us . They provide experiential trainings or exercises involving self awareness, creative arts healing , journaling - to free the wounded child and set her free to reconcile with the Adult self now.

The creative arts of drawing , dancing and other creative arts activities - resurfaces the child within us as it recalls the painful experience of childhood and recognizing this , eventually frees the wounded child in us .

We can now face our life as Adults and let the child within us play through recreational activities , much needed breaks and vacations ... our adult and child now reconciles for our good health and a peaceful and successful life.
